DISPLACED
"Chodd Aaye Hum Wo Galiyan" by Gulzar talks about the agony of having to leave behind your homeland, your family and your loved ones to pursue a greater cause at the risk of your life. In many ways, leaving behind segments of our past is something we do everyday. We leave behind the streets of childhood to enter adulthood, we leave behind our birthplace to pursue our careers and so on. But there are people, who don't have a choice. They have to leave behind their homes as they don't have the resources to fight a greater force- be it nature or human. Inspired by this poetic masterpiece, "Displaced" explores the topic of "Human Displacement" through five editorial sketches descriptive of five forces that act as oppressors tearing apart homes.
The displacement of human populations refers to the relocation of large numbers of people from their homes. For example, climate change can reduce regional precipitation and convert farmland into desert. Unfortunately, the displacement of human populations is not only caused by environmental changes, but often occurs because of inequitable social and political systems that do not provide people with protection, food, clean water, and healthcare.

According to the UN Refugee Organization, 89.3 million people around the world have been forced to flee their homes, 27.1 million refugees exist, around half of whom are under the age of 18 and 1 in every 88 people on earth has been forced to flee. Moreover, there are millions of stateless people, who have been denied a nationality and lack access to basic rights such as education, health care, employment and freedom of movement. This is a hypothetical project that aims at recognizing this and spreading awareness by means of art editorials and exhibitions.
